Ⅱ. 語篇改寫
John Li, a Chinese high school student, spent one year studying in a British secondary school and living with a (1)
host
family.
He found that the school life in Britain is quite different. The students go to school much later and stay in school for a much (2)
shorter
time. Interestingly, it is the teachers rather than the students who have their own (3)
classrooms
. The students have to move around for different classes. That's why he found it (4)
hard/difficult
to remember everyone's name.
The school subjects are almost the same as those in China, but except for some subjects that all have to study, students are given (5)
choices
among other subjects. British schools value the ability to do things. In one class, with the help of his teacher, he even made himself an (6)
alarm
clock. (7)
However
, he found that he couldn't understand a lot of difficult English words, especially in geography and biology classes.
He ate lunch in the school dining hall, where he could enjoy British food, like bread and butter, chicken pie and (8)
fish and chips
.
There were different clubs for him to choose to join after class. The one that (9)
attracted
him most was the Rugby Club.
On the whole, he was (10)
lucky
to have such a chance to experience a different way of life.
